What is Songless?

Songless asks you to name a recording from an audio clip that starts at just 0.1 seconds. You choose whether to guess from that small clue or reveal more of the track for fewer points. The embedded PlayDaily Unlimited version has five songs per solo run, progressing through Easy, Medium, Hard, Expert and Brutal. Its player shows the points still available alongside the clip controls, so every extra listen is a choice between more information and a lower score. This page covers PlayDaily's adaptation, not the original official edition.

Songless Rules

  • Skipping reveals the song, awards zero points for that round and offers Next to continue.
  • A solo run contains five songs, each starting with a 0.1-second clip available.
  • Select a longer clip to hear more of the recording, up to 30 seconds.
  • Each song starts at 10,000 points; revealing more audio reduces the points available.
  • Type a song title and select a matching search result to submit a guess.
  • A wrong guess deducts 500 points but does not end the song.
  • The maximum total is 50,000 points across five songs. This Unlimited version has no daily play cap.

Rule-based illustration: the published scoring table values a 3-second clip at 5,093 points before wrong guesses. One wrong guess reduces that to 4,593 if no more audio is revealed. This is a calculation, not a current puzzle answer.

How to Play Songless?

1. Start a solo run

  • You'll see: Play solo and Run options on the opening screen.
  • You do: Choose any genre, artist or year filters you want, then press Play solo.
  • The game gives: The player opens the first of five songs with a score of zero.
  • What you learn: Filters shape the song selection before the run starts.

2. Listen to a short clip

  • You'll see: A play button, clip-length controls and the points available for this song.
  • You do: Play the 0.1-second clip; choose a longer snippet if you need another clue.
  • The game gives: The clip plays and the displayed value reflects how much audio you have used.
  • What you learn: Hearing more helps identify the recording but lowers its value.

3. Search and choose a title

  • You'll see: A Search songs field beneath the player.
  • You do: Enter a title and select the song you want to guess from the search results.
  • The game gives: The game checks your selection; a wrong guess costs 500 points and lets you try again.
  • What you learn: A considered guess avoids spending points on unrelated titles.

4. Continue through the set

  • You'll see: The round counter tracks your progress through five songs.
  • You do: Finish each song and continue to the next round.
  • The game gives: The run ends with a total score after the fifth song.
  • What you learn: Your overall score combines all five rounds rather than a single answer.

Songless Strategy & Tips

  • Listen for a recognisable voice, drum sound or instrument before trying to identify a melody in a tenth of a second.
  • Reveal audio in small increments. Stop extending the clip once you have a clear candidate.
  • Compare the displayed clip value with the 500-point wrong-guess penalty before making an uncertain guess.
  • Use genre, artist or year filters to practise a familiar part of your music library before broadening the selection.
