What is MapTap?

MapTap turns a place name into a position on a 3D globe. Each daily set contains five locations. Drag to rotate the Earth, zoom to inspect a region, then tap to submit your answer. MapTap tests where a place sits, rather than asking you to type its name. The MapTap reveal connects your guess to the target and updates the running score before the next prompt. Coastlines, borders and nearby land help turn a rough idea into a precise placement. Recognizing a country is only the first step when the target is a particular city. Later MapTap rounds carry more weight: the multipliers are 1×, 1×, 2×, 3× and 3×. The daily game ends after five submissions with a total and share control. Optional accounts and MapTap+ extras sit alongside the free daily round.

MapTap Rules

• MapTap gives you five daily locations to find.
• Drag the globe to rotate it and use zoom to inspect the area before selecting a point.
• A tap submits your location in the default controls; rotate by dragging rather than making exploratory taps.
• For a named point, aim as close as possible to the target. The reveal shows your guess and the target before the next round.
• Each round awards a base score of up to 100. The five multipliers are 1×, 1×, 2×, 3× and 3×, for a maximum total of 1,000.
• The daily core game can be completed without signing in; saved-account features and paid extras are separate.

Rule-based scoring illustration, not a puzzle answer: a base score of 80 in a 2× round contributes 160 points. Five perfect base scores give 100 × (1 + 1 + 2 + 3 + 3) = 1,000 points.

MapTap How to Play?

1. Learn the globe controls

• You'll see: A rotating globe and, on a first visit, an introductory tutorial.
• You do: Drag the globe as instructed, complete the tutorial placement and select LET'S GO! when it appears.
• The game gives: The tutorial ends and the daily location prompt appears.
• What you learn: Dragging changes the view; tapping selects a geographic point.

2. Read the location and multiplier

• You'll see: A location prompt above the globe, together with the round difficulty and multiplier.
• You do: Read the full place name and any region or country supplied, then rotate toward that part of the world.
• The game gives: Different landmasses come into view as you drag.
• What you learn: Use all the geographic information in the prompt before choosing a point.

3. Refine your position and tap

• You'll see: The region you have brought into view on the globe.
• You do: Zoom as needed, compare coastlines and nearby land, and tap only when ready to submit.
• The game gives: MapTap marks your guess and animates the reveal toward the target.
• What you learn: Recognizing a country and locating a particular city are separate judgments.

4. Follow the reveal through all five rounds

• You'll see: The target reveal and an updated running score, followed by another prompt.
• You do: Compare your placement with the target and repeat for the remaining locations.
• The game gives: Later rounds display higher multipliers; after the fifth submission the game presents the final score and Share your score control.
• What you learn: The total includes all five weighted rounds, so each placement still matters.

MapTap Strategy & Tips

• Start with the continent, then the country, then the local area. In MapTap, narrowing the search in that order gives you a useful estimate when a city is unfamiliar. Read every geographic qualifier before moving the globe.
• Bring the likely target toward the center of the globe before refining your tap. Land near the curved edge is visually compressed, making coastal positions and distances harder to judge. Rotate the view instead of guessing against the rim.
• Separate movement from submission. Drag to rotate and use zoom to inspect; a casual tap commits an answer under the default MapTap controls. Finish adjusting the view before placing your pointer over the spot you want.
• Read the supplied region or country rather than relying on a familiar city name alone. Similar names occur in different places. Treat the full prompt as your reference, then locate the appropriate part of that country.
• Give the final two MapTap rounds deliberate attention. Their 3× multipliers are fixed, not wagers you choose. Improving a base score by 10 points adds 30 to the total there, compared with 10 in either opening round.
• Use a coastline, border bend or nearby island as an anchor. Decide whether your target should lie inland, along a coast or close to a neighboring country. Make one location judgment at a time instead of repeatedly shifting a guess without a reason.
• Review the MapTap reveal for one memorable relationship: north of a bay, inland from a coast, or beside a recognizable border. Name the feature you missed before moving on. Remembering a relationship is more useful than memorizing where you clicked on the screen.
• Practice a weak region after the daily set. Choose a relevant official practice map and revisit a small group of places. On a later attempt, recall their positions before zooming in. Check the selected mode’s access rules rather than assuming all practice is free.
